The Superstar who seemed to have succeeded the Mavins Record Queen throne from the preceding Queen Tiwa Savage has been making tremendous progress and impact in the entertainment industry.

She succeeded in upping her game within her four years of consistency in the music industry.

MEET AYRA STARR

Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe popularly known as "Ayra Starr", is a controversial Nigerian singer, Songwriter and Model who rose to stardom after the release of her single titled "Away" under the management of Don Jazzy, the CEO of Mavins record.

Oyinkansola Aderibigbe was born on the 14th of June, 2002, in Cotonou, Bénin where she was raised. She also grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, and her childhood experiences revolve around these locations as she spent most of her childhood there. She has four siblings; two sisters and two brothers. According to her, her family moved a lot because of the nature of her father's job and this affected her relationship with people, as there was no possibility of building a long-lasting relationship except for the close relationship and bond with her family.

Her family's love for music laid the foundation for her love for singing which birthed her desire to pursue a music career. She is a Nicki Minaj and Rihanna stan.

She sang in a high school choir at the age of 10. It was also at this age that she began writing songs with her brother who had also co-written most of her trending songs of the present.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree in International relations and Political science from Les Cours Sonou University, Bénin. Her mother had always encouraged her to pursue a music career and she has been very supportive of her daughter since she started the journey. Sarah Aderibigbe recounted that she turned to music as a means of coping with the bullying she had faced due to her age and body size.

Her father's demise in 2019 affected her (may his soul rest in perfect peace), but also it gave birth to her top-charting singles as she wrote most of them in those down moments.

HER CONTROVERSIAL LIFESTYLE

  

The controversial artiste who is the CEO of her fan base "mobstarrs" is known for her similarity with Tems in vocal sound and texture. She has been compared with Tems on so many occasions but each artiste have their unique sound.

Her fashion sense has got lots of people including the "mobstarrs" talking in either the form of appraisal or condemnation.

She has also been compared to Tiwa Savage and Tems in terms of fashion style. 

According to Ayra Starr, she is a Gen-Z and would keep doing what she knows how to do best.

Ayra Starr has recently bagged 8 nominations for The Headies award alongside Wizkid. The Headies award 2022 was earlier announced on the 1st of March, 2022 by its founder and Executive producer Ayo Animashaun to be held at Cobb Energy Performing Art Centre in Atlanta Georgia, the United States on July 2nd, 2022; and Ayra Starr who has also been nominated as the Next rated artiste along with theother 8 nominations she bagged has been said to have higher chances of winning compared to the upcoming artistes of the past years.

The "mobstarrs" are solely behind her. However, some people do not find it agreeable that the young superstar was nominated for the "Next rated artiste" instead of "the rookie of the year". Ayra Starr is believed to be the next big thing that would happen to the Nigerian Music Industry after her predecessors.

HOW HER STAGE NAME CAME ABOUT.

Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe who was signed under Quove Models, a Lagos-based modelling agency in August 2018 before her debut in the music industry had worked for companies like Esperenza woman, Mazelle Studio and Complete Fashion Magazine. She started uploading covers of songs by her favourite artistes on the internet in 2019. 

According to her, she chose her stage name because it signifies what she stands for which is awakening and eye-opening. 

Ayra Starr wanted to make music that appealed to both the old and the young.

Her EP which was mixed and mastered by Johnny Drille, Ikon and Louddaaa was the top-selling album in Nigeria on both iTunes and Apple music in a short time after its release.

She had gone to achieve great feats in the music industry. She has continued excelling in her music career and keeps setting her bars. Her pen game and relatable lyrics has also made her stand out amongst her colleagues. At the 8th African Muzik Magazine Awards, she was nominated for the Best Newcomer award. Her net worth is said to be $500,000 as of the present update.
